Detailed records/minutes of GAC meetings will be kept

Reviews, evaluates, and approves or disapproves protocols submitted to the GCRC for scientific/financial merit

Designates/Categorizes all GCRC protocols by research days and visits as Category A, B, or D

Requires that biostatisticians must perform a protocol review for all GCRC protocols regarding project design and to optimize the study's subsequent data analyses before final GAC approval for GCRC use.

Conducts periodic reviews of GCRC operations and approved protocols assuring that resources are used for the most scientifically justified and relevant projects

Delineates common needs of GCRC investigators

Assures that all NCRR/NIH policy and guidelines are adhered to by all GCRC personnel, the university, and participating research collaborators

Assures that NIH policy is implemented on the inclusion of women, minorities, and children as study subjects

Assures that NIH policy is implemented regarding the Data Safety Monitoring Plans/Boards for all study subjects

Encourages junior faculty members and fellows to perform clinical research and assists them in applying appropriate concepts and methods

Encourages training of students to perform clinical research and assists them in applying appropriate concepts, methods, and techniques
